Annual Appeal – Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
No one should have to choose between safety and survival.
Every day, women/men and children across Central and Southwest Iowa flee dangerous situations with the urgent will to survive. The Catholic Charities Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault program is there to catch them. We provide emergency shelter, trauma-informed care, legal advocacy, and the unwavering belief that they deserve to be safe, heard, and cared for so they can become whole again.
We can’t do it without you. Your gift today directly helps survivors escape abuse and rebuild their lives.
- $64 helps 8 individuals apply for an Iowa state ID, so they can gain access to benefits such as food stamps, protection orders, and public housing.
- $500 can provide safety for 7 assault survivors by assisting them with changing their locks.
- $1,500 can help 9 families with utilities so they can ensure their home remains their safe space.
- $5,000 makes it possible for an advocate to provide overnight services to 8 adults and children staying at the shelter as well as answer the 24-hour crisis lines for a month.
