Food Bank of Iowa honors Catholic Charities Food Pantry
Catholic Charities Food Pantry received two honors from Food Bank of Iowa in the past week. The honors mean a great deal, as our partnership helps reduce hunger in our community year after year. The awards also say a lot about our staff and volunteers who make it all happen. Poverty Reduction Program Manager, Leslie Van Der Molen (pictured center), was on hand for both awards.
Distinguished Partner Agency Award: Food Bank of Iowa A-CAN-EMY Awards and 35th Anniversary Celebration Saturday May 13, 2017
Food Bank of Iowa recognized Catholic Charities Food Pantry as doing more than any other partner to work toward their vision of a hunger free Iowa. Catholic Charities Food Pantry has distributed more food than any other Food Bank of Iowa partner: 2,663,181 lbs. of food [from June 2004 to December 2016].
Food Bank of Iowa Hall of Fame: Food Bank of Iowa Partner Agency Conference Tuesday May 16, 2017
Catholic Charities Food Pantry was inducted into the Food Bank of Iowa Hall of Fame along with 11 other partner agencies. This is the first year that the Food Bank of Iowa has done a hall of fame. Catholic Charities was the only agency inductee who distributed over 2 million pounds of food.
